Webinar recording available - Engaging indigenous patient partners in patient-oriented research in Canada

On 4 December, the final webinar in this year’s series of International PPI Network and Cochrane Learning Live webinar series was presented by Marie-Claude Tremblay who talked about the findings from her patient-orientated research project focusing on the underrepresentation of indigenous communities in health research.

Patient-orientated research is a participatory approach that promotes active patient engagement in health research. However, there are some communities that are generally underrepresented in patient-orientated research, such as indigenous communities. The ‘Indigenous patient partners platform project’ aimed to address the issue of the underrepresentation of Indigenous people by recruiting, orientating, engaging and supporting new Indigenous patient partners in health research in Québec, Canada.

In this webinar, Marie-Claude explored the successes and learnings from this project and discussed the identified best strategies for engaging Indigenous patient partners in patient-oriented research.
